Christmas Ceramic Cake Making!
Christmas Ceramic Cake Making!
Give your holiday décor a sprinkle of magic with our Christmas Ceramic Cake workshop! Swap the buttercream for clay and live your childhood dream by building a festive showstopper that will be the centrepiece of your Christmas table for years to come. Whether you’re dreaming of a snowy winter wonderland cake or a classic gingerbread-style masterpiece, this is the ultimate festive "bake-off."
What You’ll Do
In this playful, hands-on session, you’ll use professional pottery techniques to "bake" and decorate your holiday cake.
We will guide you through:
• Constructing the Cake: Use slab-building techniques to create a sturdy, cake base that acts as your blank canvas.
• Festive Slip Piping: Using a piping bag filled with liquid clay (slip), you'll "ice" your cake just like a pastry chef. Master snowy peaks, shell borders, and delicate holiday patterns. You can even learn to pipe "Merry Christmas" or a festive message!
• Holiday Toppings: Hand-sculpt ceramic holly leaves, bright red berries, tiny candy canes, or even a dusting of "snow" to finish your design.
• The Two-Step Process: Your cake will be bisque-fired first. You'll then return to the studio to apply festive glazes—bringing out the rich reds, forest greens, and snowy whites—before a final kiln firing.
What’s Included
• All materials: High-quality clay, decorating slip, and a palette of festive glazes.
• Specialised Tools: Use of our slab-rollers, carving tools, and professional piping bags.
• Two Kiln Firings: Includes both the initial bisque fire and the final holiday glaze fire.
• Plenty of tea, coffee, and cake to keep the festive spirits high!
What to Bring
• Old Clothes: Clay and slip can be a bit messy, so please wear something you don't mind getting "iced" with clay.
Collection Info: Your masterpiece will be ready for collection approximately 3 weeks after your final glazing session—perfectly timed for your Christmas celebrations!
It’s whimsical, nostalgic, and pure festive fun. You’ll leave with a unique ceramic sculpture that brings a touch of handmade magic to your home every December.
