101 Trousers and Shorts
Learn to sew your own perfectly fitting trousers or shorts using the Merchant and Mills “101” pattern.
Join us for a relaxed, hands‑on sewing workshop where you’ll be guided step by step through making either 101 Trousers or 101 Shorts.
This workshop is ideal if you want to build confidence, improve your skills, or finally tackle garment‑making with support. This pattern is brilliant as you can either choose from wide leg trousers, cropped tapered trousers or shorts. Once you have mastered the steps in one of the patterns, you can make all of the options at home or at our Sewing Club.
What you’ll learn
- How to read and cut your size and style from the 101 pattern.
- Choosing the correct size and making simple adjustments.
- Sewing seams, waistbands, and hems.
- Tips for achieving a neat, professional finish.
- Confidence to make the pattern again at home.
What you’ll make
By the end of the workshop, you’ll have:
- A finished (or nearly finished) pair of trousers or shorts.
- A reusable pattern and the skills to remake it in different fabrics.
Skill level ✔ Beginner friendly ✔ Some basic sewing machine experience recommended.
What’s included
- Expert tuition in a small, supportive group.
- Use of sewing machines and tools.
- Step‑by‑step guidance throughout the day.
What to bring
