Craft a beautiful, reusable holiday heirloom to cherish for years to come. Skip the disposable store-bought calendars this holiday season and join us for a fun, intensive, and rewarding four-hour workshop at the Felix Tabitha Sewing School.
On the 14th of November from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, you will sew your very own custom fabric Advent calendar. Whether you want to fill it with chocolates, thoughtful notes, or small toys, this beautiful countdown calendar will become a beloved part of your family’s winter traditions.
Under expert guidance, you will master precision cutting for uniform pocket grids and learn how to pleat and press pockets for easy filling. You will also build your confidence with topstitching to achieve clean, professional lines on multiple fabric layers, and discover how to create a sturdy casing or tabs for stable wall mounting.
We offer two flexible pricing tiers to suit your needs:
- £45 Option (Bring Your Own Fabric): Perfect if you have a specific holiday theme in mind or want to use up your stash. For this option, please bring 1 metre of main fabric along with a selection of smaller pieces or festive scraps to create contrast on the pockets. We will provide the backing calico, wadding, and all necessary hanging hardware.
- £65 Option (All-Inclusive): Simply turn up and create. This tier grants you full access to our selection of festive holiday cottons and linens, alongside all necessary hardware.
Whichever option you choose, the price includes full use of our studio tools—including sewing machines, fabric shears, pins, and thread—plus expert tuition and plenty of festive refreshments to keep you inspired. In just four hours, you will transform raw materials into a finished, fully functional Advent calendar ready to hang on your wall. It is the perfect weekend activity to get into the holiday spirit, meet fellow makers, and create a sustainable piece of festive decor.

This workshop is designed for advanced beginners who already know how to thread and operate a sewing machine.
If you would like a refresher on using a sewing machine, we suggest doing our Beginners Guide to Sewing Machine workshop before this workshop.
This workshop takes place in our Sewing School.
We have brand new Janome sewing machines for you to use, plus all the other tools, equipment and sewing 'notions'.
Refreshments will be provided throughout the workshop.
We have sewing machines you can use, but if you prefer to bring your own you are very welcome to.
Please note.
This workshop takes place upstairs in our new sewing school and I'm afraid we do not have a lift. We do have a toilet and refreshment station upstairs.
